Kari Perkins began her career designing costumes for community theater in Dallas, Texas. Her first film as a Costume Designer was the seminal independent feature, “Dazed and Confused” which launched the careers of Perkins, Richard Linklater and Matthew McConaughey. Perkins’ collaboration with Linklater has continued through the years and their films together include “A Scanner Darkly”, “Bernie”, “Boyhood”, “Everybody Wants Some!!”, “Last Flag Flying”, and most recently “Where’d You Go, Bernadette”. Perkins was nominated for a Costume Designers Guild Award for Excellence in a Contemporary Film for “Boyhood”.

Perkins’ other credits include “Those Who Wish Me Dead” written and directed by Taylor Sheridan and starring Angelina Jolie, Nicholas Holt and Jon Bernthal. “Timmy Failure” written by Stephan Pastis and directed by Tom McCarthy. “Wind River” written and directed by Taylor Sheridan and starring Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen, the critically acclaimed “Mud” directed by Jeff Nichols and starring Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon, “Parkland” directed by Peter Landesman and produced by Tom Hanks, “Devil’s Knot” directed by Atom Egoyan and starring Colin Firth and Reese Witherspoon, and the pilot “Deliverance Creek” directed by Jon Amiel. 

Perkins continues to work on theater and dance productions. Her credits include Jonathan Watkins’ “Crash” with The Texas Ballet Theater, Ballet Austin’s Stephen Mills’ “Women and Light”, “Torso” and “Wall of Names”, Sharir+Bustamante’s “For Four”, Andrea Ariel’s “Gyre”, “Five2Ten”, “Flush”, “Everything Between” and “The Bowie Project”; Kathy Dunn Hamrick Dance Co.’s “Murmur”, “Royal Pair”, “Spin” and “Woman Smiling”, and Sally Jacques’ “Devotion”, “Zed”, “Blue Pearl Trilogy” and “Body Count”. Perkins received a B. Iden Payne award for Costume Design for the 2002 stage production of “Dark Goddess”.
