KARI PERKINS

Kari began her career designing costumes for community theater in Dallas, Texas and continues to work in theater and dance productions today. Her first film design credit was on the small independent feature, Dazed and Confused.  Her costume design credits currently list more than thirty feature films, including Mud, Parkland, and Wind River. She has designed seven films with Richard Linklater, including A Scanner Darkly, Bernie, Boyhood, Everybody Wants Some! and the recently completed Where’d You Go, Bernadette.

She has collaborated with dance choreographers such as:  Jonathan Watkins’ “Crash” with Texas Ballet Theater. Ballet Austin’s Stephen Mills’ “Women and Light”,  “Torso”, and “Wall of Names”.  Sharir+Bustamante’s “For Four” and “Court 6”.  Andrea Ariel’s “Gyre”, “Five2Ten”, “Flush”, “Everything Between”, and “The Bowie Project”.  Kathy Dunn Hamrick Dance Co.’s “Murmur”, “Royal Pair”, “Spin”, and “Woman Smiling” and Blue Lapis Light’s Sally Jacques “Devotion”, “Zed”, “Blue Pearl Trilogy”, and “Body Count”. 

Perkins’ work has been featured on the DIY Network and Southern Living Magazine. She has also appeared in Tribeza and Rare magazines as well as podcasts on Spoiler Alert Radio and with Tom Parish, colorist. Perkins has also appeared in interviews with Film Doctor and Frock Talk.

In 2015 Perkins was nominated for the Costume Designers Guild’s Outstanding Costume Design for Boyhood and received a B. Iden Payne award for Costume Design in the 2002 stage production of “Dark Goddess”.
