Kari Perkins has an extensive background in film, performing and visual art. She is currently exploring the expressive potential of hand-dyed silk, recycled materials and found objects. Her visual artworks, which include fiber, mixed-media pieces and installations, often feature a captivating blend of vibrant colors, rich textures and unexpected forms. Her art invites viewers to experience a world where the tactile and visual merge, revealing the unique beauty found in the intersection of nature, memory and artistic exploration. Perkins also specializes in multiple highly conceptualized productions, including fantasy, historical, and science fiction. With a keen eye for layering color and texture, Perkins crafts rich characters, bringing a unique depth to storytelling. Her work, notably recognized with a Costume Designer’s Guild nomination for “Boyhood,” extends across numerous projects with directors such as Richard Linklater, Jeff Nichols, and Taylor Sheridan, as well as collaborations with renowned dance choreographers Jonathan Watkins, Stephen Mills and Sally Jacques. Perkins has a distinct dedication to sustainability, frequently sourcing materials from local charity shops and vintage stores, underscoring her thoughtful and responsible approach to her designs.
